WHY I PRACTICE

Started out practicing yoga due to major injury of broken back in skydiving accident. Now I practice for other reasons from stress relief, mindfulness and health.

WHY I TEACH

Teaching over 7 years and now full time. I want to help others and make yoga approachable to everyone. I like offering different options to customize and help each individual. Additionally I tend to keep the language simple and always with a sense of humor. "There is no one way to do yoga; just find your own way, explore, enjoy, relax and have fun."

Paige (Linda) Lichens instructs the following:
  • Core Flow 2
  • This powerful and effective flow fusion class is a hybrid of yoga and core strengthening moves. Our core is our center physically, emotionally, and mentally. Stoking the fire in our belly, creating strong abs and a strong spine is vital to being healthy. Planks and all kinds of ab and spine strengthening moves will stimulate the prana in your navel center. Focus is on deep abdominal work along with upper and lower body strengthening and lengthening. This class is an excellent complement to your regular yoga practice. It is not heated.

  • Flow & Let Go 1-2
  • Awaken your body and de-clutter your mind with a vigorous vinyasa flow followed by gentle stretches, restorative poses, breath work, and meditation. In this class, the only music is the rhythm of your breath and the beat of your heart.

This class is welcoming to beginners but includes less descriptive language. This a great transition class for beginners looking to bridge the gap to intermediate practice.

  • Align & Refine 1-2
  • Align & Refine -- Designed for level 1/2 students and above, this class explores correct alignment of basic, intermediate, and some advanced poses. We deconstruct and "hold" poses for a minimum of one minute each, and we use props to deepen and explain pose benefits. Class includes inversions.

Level 1/2 classes are great for both beginners and intermediate students!

  • Restorative Yoga 1
  • Bring recuperation to your organs, nervous system, and consciousness. Long holds soothe the mind and encourage an inward focus. A slower practice will awaken and encourage deeper openings. This class is essential for all levels!

  • Yoga Nidra & Live Harp Music
  • Saturday |  May 6  |  1:30-2:30 PM

$15 if registered by April 22nd; $20 thereafter

    Washington DC Studio
    14th Street NW

Find deeper levels of peace and health than you ever imagined possible. Give yourself permission to rest and restore; tapping into new sources of energy. This inspired, meditative practice requires nothing of you but to lay still and be guided while listening to soothing live harp music.

Be supported, held and nourished as you discover profound peace and vibrant health. Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra (R) has the power to transform you at core levels. This meditation guides you through each layer of being, called the Koshas, which include the physical, energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual layers; making this healing practice inclusive of your whole being. You'll start with a short session of movement and then you will rest in stillness, lying down in savasana relaxation pose or in a seated position, while being guided by your teachers soothing voice.

Practice is for anyone with a desire for greater inner peace and connection to one's self. No prior yoga experience is required. This practice has been used to successfully aid insomnia, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, pain and other issues.
